About
Hi there. I’m Chris. I spend my days working with data, and my nights digging into music. This blog is basically a place where I share all the things I find interesting—songs I’ve been replaying, photos from events and travels, data stuff I’ve been playing around with, and whatever else is on my mind.
What’s Here
I am a DJ and I love sharing music. Sometimes I’ve found a new recommendation, or I’ve got a song that I haven’t heard in a while, or I found a fresh track ID, so it needs to live somewhere. I hope you like it, but also, I’ll try to put it here, so I can find it later. I started with RainyDawg Radio, and kept the ball going for a while, throwing events, putting on shows, making mixes, and I’ve kept track of my favorites along the way.
I also take photos. Nothing fancy, just moments I want to remember. Birthdays, parties, trips to places that I’ve been for holidays or for family. There’s a whole photoblog section that goes back to 2014 if you wanna dig through the archives. Eventually, the old instagram posts will make their way home here.
I’m inspired by science, and policy, and evidence, and decision making, so I’ll share things about data science too. It’s fun to break things down and see what the numbers are telling us. I’m making sense of all the music and photos and stories, one post at a time.
Why This Blog
I’ve been sharing here, starting out with event flyers and photos, and just kept going. I want to learn a little bit about the Internet so I need to practice things like making a static site and experimenting with tools. I want to keep more of my data under my own publishing too, instead of siloed into the trinet of social media.
Also why music? Because music has the power to lift us up, to relate our inner feelings to other people, and to bring us together. Listening to music, singing and playing along, and telling the story of music is what drives me. I’m here because I like sharing my favorites with others who feel the same way. And I hope you’ll feel inspired to send me some of your favorites too.
